Preparing for a recent backpacking trip I used my kitchen scale to weigh everything. My goal: base weight under 8lbs. My discovery: the lightest weight and highest performance underwear I own are not the sporty ones from REI, but the very lacy and racy (and quick drying) little thongs I bought on Amazon for a fraction of the price of athletic underwear.
During the trip, I reflected on why for so many years I felt like I needed to dress like a guy in the backcountry, when I feel more comfortable and like I am myself when I wear dresses rather than pants?
I decided to create babeinthebackcountry to be a resource for women and girls who want to enjoy being feminine and stylish while engaging in adventurous activities like backpacking, biking, skiing and climbing.
Our mission is to provide lifestyle musings and practical tips and reviews on gear and clothing, hygiene, backcountry health and safety to empower women and girls in the wild.
I probably do many more adventurous things than the average woman in America, and while I engage in some bad ass sports, I don't do them at the level of a bad ass. I'm just a regular woman who has spent a lot of time in the backcountry.
